Technology should be utilized effectively, creatively, and appropriately by staff and students at Mt. Sentinel in order to faciliate learning. Technology should be accessible and cost-effective for all students. Technology must be integrated meaningfully, purposefully, and as part of the learning cycle. It should not be used for the sake of novelty or as an "add on" when there's time. Technology is not defined by computer lab usage vis a vis a wordprocessor. Technology must be an essential 21st century literacy focus in order to provide advantages to students in increasingly demanding and challenging labour market conditions. Technology should be integrated into regular curriculum where possible, and not as a stand alone course. Technology is best used to:
create
communicate
collaborate
use higher order thinking skills (synthesis, evaluation, creation)
provide differentiated learning opportunities for all students
Goal for 2009:
